Melamchi water supply test to go next month   

Kathmandu: Minister for Drinking Water Bina Magar has said that the water supply test of the much-awaited Melamchi project will take place next month.

Responding to the queries at the meeting of the National Assembly today, she claimed that the Melamchi water supply will be made to Kathmandu after completing the testing.

She also informed that the project implementation directorate is doing its management related works for the distribution of water in the federal capital. The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited would look after the distribution of water, she clarified. "There is no need to cast doubt on the distribution of water to every home".

The minister further shared that the preliminary works of the first phase is in the run-up to the completion amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19. "Drinking water will be distributed to people's homes from coming July 16; the day will be a moment of glory for all Nepali".

The drinking water and sanitation under discussion in the parliament will be endorsed from the ongoing session, she expressed her confidence. The ministry will collect data to know the gap in the service of drinking water and will chart out a water, sanitation and hygiene campaign.
