Fifth National Book Day observed

Kathmandu:  The Federation of Nepal Books and Stationery Business (FNBSB) marked the fifth National Book Day organising various programmes across the country Monday.

The FNBSB organised the morning rally and workshop entitled ‘Importance of National Day on Development of Reading Culture’ among the participation of book publishers, distributors, retailers, entrepreneurs, writer, students, government officials and others in the Capital today.

The Federation has been celebrating the day from its establishment on the day of Basantapanchami.

The Federation is an umbrella organisation of the publishers, distributors,   retailers and entrepreneurs.

With the effort of the FNBSB, the government has recognized the National Book Day to the day of Basantapanchami from this year.

The Federation organised progarmmes across the country to increase awareness about the importance of education, reading culture development and support the national building by forwarding the book and stationery entrepreneurs.

Addressing the workshop, State Minister for Education Sheshnath Adhikari stressed the need of publishing the qualitative and practical materials for education to promote the practical education in the country.

He appreciated the role of FNBSB to develop the reading culture and publish the quality books for boosting the education sector in the country.

Educationist Prof. Dr. Biddhya Nath Koirala emphasised for the promotion of e-book learning system in the country as new generation are motivated to read the e-books.

Coordinator of the Fifth National Book Day programme and FNBSB secretary Shivasagar Sharma stressed the need on focusing to bring the reading materials as per the international standards.

“Reading and teaching habits are becoming important for the human civilization. Readers can know the world near from by developing the reading culture,” he said.
