U.S. Embassy in Nepal celebrated Diamond Jubilee-75 years of Diplomatic Relationship between two nations

Kathmandu: With the two nations’ sharing 75 years of an official relationship between Nepal and the USA, the U.S. Embassy in Nepal celebrated Diamond Jubilee on the occasion of 75 years of Diplomatic Relationship between two countries.

In an event held in Kathmandu, Public Affairs Chief Garrette E. Wilkerson extended best wishes to the mountaineer team (Denali expedition) and handed over the flag to the team. The flag will be taken to the atop Mt.Everest by Pasang Phurba Sherpa, board of director, Seven Summit Treks this spring season and later will be handed to the USA-Nepal Friendship Team to Denali, Alaska.

It highlighted the U.S Embassy’s strong support of this outstanding example of the strong people to people ties between the United States and Nepal. The mountaineer team (Denali expedition) has named the expedition 'USA-Nepal Friendship Team’ organizing for a cause with messages ' Climb against cancer'.

The expedition will begin on June 2, 2022 and which will be led by Karma Tenzing of Nepal and Mark Parella of the USA. The team also consists of World Record Holders, National Record Holders, and many acclaimed mountaineers.

The United States recognized Nepal as a sovereign country In 1947, and established diplomatic relations in 1948. The strong ties between both the countries still endure and to honor the relationship between the two countries. A team of American and Nepalese mountaineers will be attempting to climb Denali in Alaska, USA, which is the highest mountain in North America.

Denali is considered one of the most extreme and challenging mountains to climb due to its terrain and proximity to the Arctic Circle. The team will be comprising up expedition leader Mark Parella, expedition leader Karma Tenzing, World record holder Mingma Sherpa, World record holder Chhang Dawa Sherpa, World record holder Mingma Gyabu Sherpa (Mingma David), professional mountain guide Karma Gyalje Sherpa, World record holder Jangbu Sherpa, and professional mountain guide Pasang Dawa Sherpa.

In the event held at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel, Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) president Shanta Bir Lama, Trekking Agency Association Of Nepal (TAAN) president Khum Bahadur Subedi, Singer Raju Lama were present. Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) president Shanta Bir Lama and TAAN president Khum Bahadur Subedi congratulated and wishes to the team for their mission.
