Kathmandu: Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Dr Sunil Babu Shrestha, expressed the hope that science and technology would become a medium to resolve problems facing the society. The country would achieve prosperity when youths are mobilised through science and technology, he viewed.
He said it during a national conference on ‘youths on science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship’ that kicked off in federal capital today.
On the occasion, TU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Dharmakant Bastola admitted that Nepal’s education was weak in research and innovation. So, the government needs to augment budget on higher education. If the higher education is linked to research and innovation, youths could be made self-entrepreneurs, he added.
Similarly, Vice Chancellor of the Kathmandu University, Dr Bhola Thapa, stressed the need for translating skills gained from science into entrepreneurship.
Secretary at Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ram Prasad Thapaliya, however, informed that government was launching programmes to attract youths towards science and technology.
