China's NPC adopts new decision on Hong Kong-related issue

Kathmandu: The Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress (NCP) of China has voted to adopt the Decision of the National People's Congress on Improving the Electoral System of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.    

Spokesperson of Embassy of China in Nepal mentioned that this was a major step to uphold and improve the system and institutions of One Country, Two Systems and safeguard enduring stability and security in Hong Kong. It is stated that the decision will provide a stronger systemic guarantee for the full implementation of "patriots administering Hong Kong".    
"Since Hong Kong's return to the mainland, the central government has been leading and advancing the development of Hong Kong's democratic system. As the highest body of state power, the National People's Congress made the decision on improving Hong Kong SAR's electoral system, a power and responsibility enshrined in the Constitution and the Basic Law," Spokesperson Wang Xialong viewed.    
Hong Kong is a part of China and Hong Kong-related issues are China’s internal affairs where there's no place for other country to interfere, according to Spokesperson Wang.    
China appreciates Nepal’s commitment to One China Policy, he said, expressing firm confident that Hong Kong will enjoy a brighter future under One Country, Two Systems, and bring more opportunities for cooperation to the international community including Nepal.
