Two arrested with Rs 4.7 million without legal source

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu police have arrested two persons with over Rs 4.7 million, legal source of which has not been established. A team from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Nagdhunga today morning made the arrest during a security check on a Hyundai car (Province-3-01-023 Cha 2259) heading to Kathmandu from Kapilvastu, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramesh Bista.    
The confiscated amount wrapped in three cloth bags were hidden under the dickey of the car, he said. The arrestees have been identified as Amit Kumar Gupta of Gorakhpur in India and the car driver Sangam Tharu of Kapilvastu.    
"The amounts were converted from India currencies to Nepalese many times at the Nepal-India border according to investigations," he said. The confiscated amounts and the car have been sent to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation for further investigations, said the police.    
Meanwhile, the police made public a person arrested with the hide of a wildcat from Tokha in Kathmandu amid a press conference here today. A team of the Central Investigation Bureau, Nepal Police on Sunday arrested Kamal Prasad Sunuwar of Phungling in Taplejung district for supplying the hide of the animal illegally. The arrestee Sunuwar has been sent to the Division Forest Office, Kathmandu for further investigations, said the police.
