Kathmandu: Former Additional Inspector General and newly elected lawmakers Navaraj Silwal, who had been in Nepal Police search list under forgery scam, made his first public appearance in the capital Saturday.
Lawmaker Silwal made himself public by attending a public function jointly organised by the CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist Centre in a special training session hosted by the parties at the Birendra International Convention Centre, where the Federal Parliament is scheduled to begin its business from March 5.
Party's chairmen K.P Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda jointly addressed the session before their formal swearing-in ceremony as the lawmakers of the Federal Parliament on Sunday (March 4) at the BICC-based parliament office.
Addressing the gathering of lawmakers Oli urged the lawmakers to show their presence in effective way as the party has been in process of unification. He also urged the lawmakers to move ahead with the spirit of taking the nation to economic prosperity.
In another context of recent Supreme Court's stay order against the name of three nominated lawmakers for the National Assembly, Oli said that those case files registered by the lawyers intended doing politics. Such cases will not make difference to the party and the government, Oli said, who is the Prime Minister as well.
Addressing the gathering Dahal said the party unification decision with CPN-UML is more than the decision of the People's revolution began by his party in 2052 B.S.
"The decision of party unification would save the country from moving 100 years forwards and achieve economic gain in the country," Dahal said.
There are 214 lawmakers representing the Federal Parliament from both the parties.
