Satya Mohan Joshi honoured on 111th birth anniversary of Mahakabi Devkota


Kathmandu: Culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi has been honoured on the occasion of 111th birth anniversary of Mahakabi Laxmi Prasad Devkota.

At a programme organised by Nayabasti Youth Club at Mahakabi Devkota Park, Jorpati, on Sunday, litterateur Kanchan Pudasaini honoured Joshi with Rs 5,555, letter of felicitation and shawl.

Joshi was also honoured by playing cultural music instruments for his contribution in art and literature sector.

On the occasion, mayor of Gokarnershwor municipality, Santosh Chalise, said that the municipality has been carrying out remarkable activities for the promotion of literature sector.

He said that the municipality has been helping Rs 1 million each to seven literary organisations annually to carry out its activities. He also announced to provide Rs 2 million annually to Nayabasti Club if it is graduated to Club ‘A’.

Different personalities including Narayan Bahadur Subedi, Ramesh Aryal, leader of Nepal Communist Party, Punya Prasad Chaulagain and Club Chair Subhash Pudasaini shed lights on Devkota’s contribution in Nepali literature sector.

On the occasion, participants in the programme garland the half-mast statue of Devkota. Similarly, poets—Nabaraj Pudasaini, Gopal Krishna Rijal, Kabindra Pudasaini and Pawan Kumar Sangraula had recited the poems.

‘Naya Jeevan’, an organisation working for the welfare of persons with intellectual disability was also honoured woith Rs 5,555 on the occasion.
