Sanu Sherpa made a record by climbing 14 peaks twice

KATHMANDU: Nepali mountaineer Sanu Sherpa has successfully scaled Gasherbrum II twice this morning. Sherpa has created history by scaling the world's 14 peaks above 8,000m double.

According to Pasang Sherpa, Chairman of Pioneer Adventure, Sanu has successfully climbed Gasherbrum II (8,035m), this morning July 21,2022 Pakistan time at around 8.17am completing his twice summit of the 14th 8000m. Chairman Pasang Sherpa shared, "Sanu is the only climber in the world to complete all peaks twice."

Sanu Sherpa, 47, from Sankhuwasabha first started climbing the 8,000er peak from Cho Oyo in 2006. Sherpa, also climbed Nanga Parbat a few days ago, before summiting Gasherbrum II. Two siblings Mingma Sherpa and Chhang Dawa Sherpa had summitted all the 14 peaks in the world in 2012 and 2014. Sanu was the third Nepali mountaineer to climb 14th 8000m.

He scaled 14th 8000m in the year 2006 to 2022 Cho Oyu 2 times, Shishapangma 2 times, Everest 7 times, Lhotse 3 times, Kanchenjunga 2 times, Manaslu 3 times, Makalu 2 times, Annapurna I 2 times, Dhaulagiri 2 times, K2 2 times, Nanga Parbat 2 times, Broad Peak 2 times, Gasherbrum I 2 times and Gasherbrum II 2 times.
