Retail inflation rate falls to 7.04 pct in India

NEW DELHI (Xinhua) --The retail inflation rate in India eased to 7.04 percent in May from 7.79 percent in April, the federal government said on Monday.    
 The retail inflation rate in May, higher than 6.30 percent in the same period of 2021, came from data collected from selected 1,114 urban markets and 1,181 villages covering all states and the union territories in the country.    
 Meanwhile, the Consumer Food Price Index, or food inflation, fell to 7.97 percent in May from 8.31 percent in April.
