Chinese Minister completes three-day visit, Nepal to receive 11.4 billion rupees in Chinese aid

Kathmandu: China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi returned home today after completing his three-day visit to Nepal.    
Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, China’s Ambassador for Nepal, Hou Yanqi, Chief of Protocol Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of China here, were at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to see off the special guest from the northern neighbour before his departure.    
Wang arrived here on Friday leading a 19-member delegation at the friendly invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Narayan Khadka.    
During his stay here, the Chinese Minister had separately called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda' and KP Sharma Oli.    
 During the visit, the Foreign Ministry-level delegation from both countries had a bilateral meeting on Saturday and the officials concerned from both sides signed on nine Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) relating to the enhancement of mutual assistance.   

Nepal to receive 11.4 billion rupees in Chinese aid   
The government of the people's republic of China will provide more than Rs 11.40 billion in grant assistance to the Government of Nepal under financial and technical assistance.    
The amount will be spent on the implementation of projects agreed upon by both the countries, according to the Ministry of Finance. The amount is provided for the year 2020.    
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on a visit to Nepal, has also pledged to provide development assistance announced during President Xi Jinping's 2019 visit to Nepal.    
He expressed the commitment during the Nepal-China Foreign Ministerial Talks held in the capital on Saturday. He also agreed to fully operate the two-way movement of goods and services on the Rasuwagadhi-Tatopani border point.    
During the talks, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries have instructed the concerned bodies to make necessary preparations for speedy operation of the border point. The Chinese Foreign Minister also assured that the Nepali students will return to China as soon as possible.
