Film should give message: Minister Khatiwada   

Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada has said film should give message to the society in addition to entertainment.
At a programme organized at the Film Development Board in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Khatiwada viewed film can be an effective medium for social awareness. "It can leave lasting impression on social values for the change in country. If the film spreads wrong message, it can affect society adversely," he argued.
The Minister further suggested the film makers to objectively present the glorious history, culture and social values.
Also the Spokesperson of the government, Dr Khatiwada garnered information how the COVID-19 lockdown has affected film industry in the country.
The Minister made it clear that the tax on film shooting would not be discounted. He however assured assistance from the Ministry for the digitization, story bank and censor system. Similarly, the Ministry would pay attention to the career development of cine artists.
On a different note, he said country was facing hard times to restore its economic activities by minimizing the risk. "Lockdown was lifted not because health risk minimized but to ease the public lives affected much in the lockdown," he reminded.
Chairman of Film Development Board, Dayaram Dahal, hoped that government would address the problems the film sector faced in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown.
