Kathmandu witnesses lowest minimum temperature of this year today

Kathmandu: The capital on Friday felt the lowest minimum temperature of this year, Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said.

Kathmandu this morning at around 6:00 am, felt the lowest minimum tempeorature of this year with 3.0 degree Celsius.

The average minimum temperature of Kathmandu during the month of December is 3.7 degree Celsius, Paudel said.

“The temperature of the Valley and eastern and western Terai and in high Mountain regions are also decreasing gradually in the morning hour,” Paudel said.

For Kathmandu, the extreme minimum temperature was recorded with minus two degree Celsius in December 31, 1977.

Temperature in high Hilly areas are also decreasing, Shanti Kandel, another Meteorologist said.

Dense fog in western Terai regions in the morning hour is also seen on Friday, Kandel said. The fog was not clear in the area till 1 pm, she said.



Fogs will now be seen also in Eastern Nepal as well as soon as the mercury went on depleting, she said.

There is currently the impact of westerly wind that caused in the sharp fall of the temperature.
