Kathmandu: Leaders from the ruling party Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and major opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have claimed that Nepali people were gushing over the impending visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal.
President Xi Jinping arriving Nepal on October 12 for a two-day state visit . This would be the first official visit by a Chinese President in Nepal after 23 years.
At a programme here on Friday, NC leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala said that NC was very glad with the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and said that NC had viewed this visit with importance. “NC has been endorsing China’s One-China Policy,” she said.
Similarly, NCP leader and former Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said the NCP-led government would welcome the visit of the Chinese President with gamut of enthusiasm.
Pandey said that government of Nepal would hold talks with the Chinese delegations with neutrality and would discuss would be held with China on various bilateral projects including Keyrung-Kathmandu railway.
NC leader and former Minister Romi Gauchan argued that it would be a historically important experience for the Nepali people to welcome Chinese President in Nepal.
He stressed that Nepal should take into account Nepal’s adherence to five principles of peaceful co-existence known as ‘Panchasheel’ and non-alignment movement during the visit of the Chinese President.
